Friday, July 21 - Gene and Steve are scheduled to arrive in Phnom Penh at 10:00 pm local time (11:00 am, Eastern (US) Daylight Time)  They will essentially have to ‘hit the ground running’ after 20 hours in the air, as their first class starts on Saturday.

Saturday, July 22 - Pray for clarity as Gene and Steve as they start their first classes.  Pray the Spirit creates a good bond between them and the students.

Sunday, July 23 - Worship; Gene preaches.  Teaching time in the evening  (If delayed from Saturday.)  Praise God for the time to worship together.  Pray for Gene as he preaches and for the students who will translate for him.

Monday, July 24 - Pray for Steve’s time teaching on the subject of Counseling this evening. The classes meet from 7:00-10:30pm, so prayers for the students to be able to focus on Steve’s curriculum after going to school or working all day. (Or both.)  And then going on to do their university homework after 10:30pm.

Tuesday, July 25 - As Gene teaches on leadership, may the Spirit inspire the students with ways they can utilize what they’re learning within their lives outside of the Crossroads Community.

Wednesday, July 26 - Pray the Lord will show Gene and Steve concrete and effective ways to disciple and coach the students while exploring their city.  Pray for clarity and understanding for Steve, Gene and the students at this evening’s class.

Thursday, July 27 - Pray for Gene as he continues the curriculum this evening. May God’s hand continue to direct the ‘one-on-one’ and ‘in pairs’ times both Gene and Steve have with the students during this evening’s class.

Friday, July 28 - Gene and Steve teach their final class this evening, pray they finish well.  Pray their last night with the students will be a time of fun and good fellowship as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Sunday, March 26 - Kuy Village - Jesus Loves Me This I Know...

March 25-27 - Our Time in the Kuy Village

3-24-17 - "What do you mean I have to preach at the Kuy Village?
And did you say twice?!"

3-25-17 - The group is up nice and early on Saturday for the approximately 2-3 hour trip to the remote Kuy Village.

"When we arrived at Kuy we were greeted by the one the villagers call "The Man of Peace," also know as Pu Hon (Uncle Hon). Pu Hon was the first Believer in the village, and he continues to help shepherd and influence his people for Christ. Pu Hon was an excellent host and is a great leader among his people. I left him one of the Gospel soccer balls and a Khmer children's Bible story book to help him teach the Kuy kids. Please pray for him to draw closer to Jesus and that Uncle Hon will lead all of his people to the Lord Jesus."

The Phnom Penh University students have been building a deep relationship with the Kuy villagers for quite some time now.
Not surprisingly, the way they connect best with the village kids is through games.

Later on that first day we introduced the special soccer balls.

3-26-17 - Preaching Sunday morning with Chetra, my translator.
Focused completely on the Gospel and what God has planned for us: Heaven.
Theme: God Makes All Things New (Because of Jesus).

Children's church and the Gospel using the special soccer ball.
We asked questions at the end and gave out prizes to those with correct answers.
I was actually shocked how much they remembered.

Sing with me: "Jesus loves me this I know..."

This little girl volunteered to sing "Jesus Loves Me" along with me.
She did such an awesome job!

Time for coloring sheets. These were a huge hit and helped us teach the Bible - thank you Ms. Sabeth!
The Crossroads' students came up with an awesome idea. They collected all the sheets and "graded" them,
and then told the kids to come back later for their grade and a reward...it totally worked! The kids showed up and loved it!

There are no desks in the Kuy Church building, so the kids colored on the small stools that are also used for sitting.
When all the stools were taken these boys did what they had to do to color. God bless 'em!

Soccer / 'Futbol' = Ministry for the Kuy Village

Darith Ya & I went to the local Christian bookstore. Yep, a Christian bookstore in Phnom Penh!
I had to buy these soccer balls for our visit to the Kuy Village! These balls will enable us to share the Gospel using 5 symbolic colors.
(Zoom in on the instructional flyer). They are so cool!
I pray that God will use them to bring all the Kuy people, especially the children, to a saving relationship with Jesus.

Jesus at Work in Cambodia - Westover, PLEASE PRAY!

This is a beautiful picture of Jesus at work. Last night I asked the question:
"How many of you have people in your family who know Jesus?"
Only one person, Sochenda, raised her hand.

Fourteen of these fifteen students are the first in their family to know, love and follow Jesus.
But you know their story doesn't end there - God will certainly use each of them to further His Kingdom.

I also asked if Westover could pray for them and their families. They were truly excited about our church doing so.
Please pray!

Teaching the Bible Using Skits

Tonight the students learned how to teach children about the Bible using skits.
Lazarus was ready to show us how it's done.

"Lazarus, come out."

Jesus being tempted on the mountain top.

Jesus feeds the 5,000

"...they removed the roof above Him...[and]...let down the bed..."
Well, sort of!  ðŸ˜‚

March 21 - Meeting the Parillas

On my first night in Cambodia I had dinner with Pastor Dan, (and Pastor Vuth) but today, I had the wonderful pleasure of having lunch with both Dan and his 'better half' Jean. The Parillas are Westover-supported mid-term missionaries from the Philippines.
I enjoyed our time together as I got to hear more about their ministry work in Cambodia.
We ate at a restaurant called Shabu Shabu.
It had awesome atmosphere and as you can see by the spread before us, even better food!

In Cambodia small motorbikes and 'tuk tuks' are the majority modes of transportation.
In this ride back to the hotel Dan and Jean settled in with a look of ease in their posture...

...I on the other hand was still getting used to the experience.
...HOLD ON!

Until next time Pastor & Jean...have a safe trip back to Manila!
