Sunday, March 18 - Crossroads School and Church

"Sunday breakfast may look a little different in Cambodia, but it's just as delicious! Enjoying it with my new friends, (from left to right) Darith, Sochenda, & Potra (Potra & Sochenda are husband & wife)."

Crossroads School as seen from my hotel window.
"Sunday pre-service at Crossroads. Lots of smiling faces - Jesus is here!"

"Preaching on short notice...and barefoot. Only God could ask for such and walk me through it.
His message for this time: Jesus Loves Children!"

March 16-April 2 - Pastor Jeff Bradsher | Children's Ministry Teaching Trip

Although internet connections can be a little tricky in Cambodia, Jeff was able to send updates to us through photos with captions he was able to save in a private online photo album. The following are a selection of his posts chronicling his time with the university students and the leadership at Crossroads Church in the capital city of Phnom Pehn. (Pronounced 'Nom Pen')

Thursday, March 16 - "I decided to wait until I got to the airport this morning to do my daily devotional. This is what God said this morning. He is here and reminded me that He can use even someone like me. Awesome God!"

Friday, March 17 - "Watching the sun rise in Bangkok this morning and talking to my kids who were about to go to bed because the sun was setting - crazy feeling! Bangkok was last stop before Phnom Penh."

"First stop, Crossroads..."

"Pastor Dan and Pastor Vuth...just like in America, pastors like to eat!
The food so far - delicious! And the conversation about Cambodia just as good.

2017 Five Teaching Trips and the Thanksgiving Offering

Westover Church has taken a special offering at Thanksgiving for many years. The idea of this has been driven by our “thankfulness” to God for the privilege of working with Him in the world. We also seek to show our thankful hearts for those who have represented Westover by their faithful service on the mission field.

When Reverend Paul Chang asked for our help in sending Westover leaders to teach at the Cambodia School of Mission throughout 2017 we happily sought to honor his request. In 2016 we dedicated the Thanksgiving Offering to go towards this teaching/discipling ministry. But in a change from our traditional Thanksgiving Offering, we established that we will continue to take donations for it through September 30, 2017.

As with any ministry the power of prayer is a much needed, powerful and cherished component. Please join us in praying for these leaders as they prepare the curriculums for there times of teaching. And please pray for the students as they seek to grow in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For every part, may it bring glory to God!

January 2016 - Reverend Paul Chang's Request for the School of Mission

Reverend Paul Chang,
Westover-supported missionary
since 1976
In January 2016 Westover-supported missionary Reverend Paul Chang, was asked by Pastor David Harrop, "How can Westover be the most help to your ministry?" At first, Paul's response was only gratitude and he didn’t mention any needs. But finally he shared that one of the greatest ways Westover could be a help was by “partnering” with him in one of the many Bible schools that CNEC (Christian Nationals Evangelism Commission) supports throughout Southeast Asia. He asked David if Westover would send some of our pastors and trained leaders throughout 2017 to teach various courses at the Cambodia School of Mission.

In May of 2016 Pastor Chris Lewis “blazed the trail” for these teaching trips by spending almost two weeks with the Phnom Penh University students leading a course in Homiletics. In this course the students learned how to study the Bible, how to better understand people, and how to put together faithful, engaging, and practical sermons.

Chris with his very happy group of Homiletics Graduates!
