first day at crossroads

we woke up in Pnom Penh the Kingdom of Cambodia after having traveled 2days which felt a little closer to a week :). Beautiful breeze and sunshine. Lovely people greeted us as we began our first full day in this city. We have met with David this morning to discuss our week's plans, hope to visit the Sanur village as well as maybe the pepper plantation, and spending lots of time with the college students. David is sharing some exciting stories about how God is  working in Cambodia.

Westover's Training Schedule

From David Ooi:
"Xroads Leaderhsip Team consists of 9 people. They are the main pillars that work with me in a few areas such as Enterprise Department, Male Dorm, Female Dorm, Kuy Ministry, Church Planting, & Pastoral Team. Due to the high turnover rate, this team also acts as a stabilizer of the ministry at large.

'Ps 127' (Noon-Sept. 1-3) is a Team of 14 people who live in the dorm. They manage the day to day dorm ministry; due to the fact that they are a newer generation, their working relationship is much better. They continue to meet regularly every day. The members from this Team will be sent out for church planting in the city by starting a house church.

'Leadership 101 and 201' will be for everyone who resides at the dorm. An average attendance will be around 70 people."

From Judy - Pre-Trip Post

During our time in Cambodia we will be doing leadership training for CrossRoads Ministry with University Students under the leadership of David Ooi. This is a partner ministry of CNSEA and Westover supported missionary, Paul Chang. We will be teaching using Tim Elmore's "Habitudes for Leaders", as well as other devotionals during our time together.

Midway in the trip, we will have the privilege of traveling to a jungle village with the Kuy people.  Monsoon season has begun so David predicts we will get WET and probably be pushing some trucks on the muddy roads.

During our "free time" we will have the privilege of meeting with Liz Trautman's brother, who serves with Daughters of Cambodia; have time with Westover missionaries, Jim and Evelyn Anderson's son, Edward, who works with a German NGO in Phnom Penh, as well as Romaneus who will be speaking at our missions conference this Fall.

Thanks for your prayers for these two weeks.

Preparing

God is at work and doing some amazing things in Cambodia, especially among the previously unreached Kuy Villages. Xroads ministry in Phomn Penh, under the leadership of David Ooi have a burden to bring the Love of Jesus to these dear people living in the remote jungles of Northern Cambodia.

The leadership team there have been faithfully reaching out to these dear folk and they are seeing God's Hand moving in such an amazing way.

Chris Hardy, Judy Everswick, and Rebecca Pittard have the privilege of heading to Cambodia on August 30 to do some leadership training. Thanks for praying for our time, both there, as we do training, and then as we travel and spend three days in the village.
